Seascapes is a series of work intended to explore the tranquility and transitory experience felt by standing on the shoreline. Few things in today really shock us or bring us out of our own narrative, but it is scenic scapes like these that point to something bigger than ourselves. Whether we be standing at an actual sea-line, or rather, standing on the shore of one of the great lakes, we are drawn to something outside of our own experience. The shore is a peaceful place for me. Crashing waves remind me of my own chaotic life and experiences, but all of it comes together to form something beautiful and out of this world. I choose to meditate on these words: “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.” (Isaiah 43:2)
