All artworks are submitted at the artist’s own risk. Although the staff at the Riney Fine Arts Gallery at Friends University take great care in the handling of all artworks and exhibition materials, Friends University does not provide any insurance of any type and assumes no responsibility for any damages to artwork and their supporting materials incurred before, during or after the artist’s exhibition. This includes any damage that may result during the shipping/handling of exhibition materials to/from Friends University. By participating in this exhibit you give Friends University permission to use your artwork information and images for promotional purposes.
The gallery space is located in a busy, multi-purpose area. The Riney Gallery is a space in which students and many other visitors to the campus are exposed to artwork on display. Consequently, unlike many other gallery spaces, it warrants special consideration regarding artwork that contains contentious or controversial concepts and content. Artwork should be free of possible offensive content (nudity, violence, language, suggestive content, etc.).
Sales. The gallery will pay the artist 70 percent plus sales tax of the retail sales price on any work sold. Notice of all sales and payment to the artist will occur at the conclusion of the show.
Delivery. The artist is responsible for all transportation, delivery and unpacking costs unless otherwise agreed in advance, and shall bear the entire risk of damage to, loss or destruction prior to delivery of the work to Friends University.
Hanging. The Riney Gallery staff will arrange and hang the work selected for exhibition.
Presentation. All work must be display-ready with display hardware included (d-rings and/or wire). Due to the picture rail hanging system in the gallery spaces, all artwork must be framed with d-rings or wire. Saw-tooth hangers will not work in most instances. All works should be framed and glazed with Plexiglas or glass when appropriate.
Collection. The Artist shall collect all work on Friends University premises and remove it between March 31, 2025 and April 4, 2025, after this time Friends University shall not be responsible for any damage to/loss or destruction of the work from any cause including negligence by Friends University, its servants or agents, or by any other person. The artist is responsible for all packing and transportation costs unless otherwise agreed in advance. If the artwork remains unclaimed past 15 days, the university will dispose of the artwork in any way it sees fit without liability or further notice to the artist or lender.
Opening reception. An artist opening reception will take place on Friday February 7, 2025 with all costs such as publicity, food, drinks, setup and take-down covered by the gallery. The artist agrees to allow the gallery to photograph and reproduce the objects lent for publicity purposes and to appear on the gallery’s website. The gallery will give credit to the lender.
