Artist Statement
Latin-American people often carry histories and stories imparted to them by their families about their homeland. The stories told throughout childhood are beautiful, shocking, and eerie. Some of them being biographical and others from folklore, retold with missing segments and new inventions in place of absent representations. In this series, I combine diasporic narratives, both tragic and sublime, in order to reconcile the gaps of my own family history and lost narratives of those that have passed on.Follow Hugo-

Nightmare at the door, a feverish story

Asleep on the bus I had a dream of all my mothers

We climbed down from the trees, afraid but upright
The Same River Twice

Rifle sight and what grows to cover the eye

Who made the water and the creatures that live there

A tooth once extracted can never be reseeded
